On Monday, June 11th, 2018, the grade 5 students from CMS participate in the District Elementary Track and Field Day (for grades 3-5) that will be held at the UCT Oval here in Campbellton (across from Sugarloaf Senior High School). In the case of bad weather, the event will be rescheduled to the following day (June 12th, 2018) The event will begin at approx. 9:40 AM and will run until approx. 1:40 pm. The students will travel to the UCT Oval by school bus beginning shortly after 9:30AM and will return before their regular bus runs at the end of the day. During the course of the day, each class will participate in a number of curriculum-related stations as well as participate in official Track and Field events. All students, teachers, Educational Assistants, and volunteers will have to bring their own lunches to the UCT Oval. There will be time scheduled during the day to have lunch. There will also be water and a healthy snack provided for each student at the very last station of the day. There will be bathroom facilities brought in and located on site (on each side of the field) for convenience. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the combined Track and Field events. Prizes will be awarded by class, not by student and will be sent to the winning classes the following week. There is no cost to the students for any of these activities, but we ask that you please ensure that your child has appropriate clothing, sneakers, sunscreen and a water bottle (labeled with their name) in order to participate in the event. To give your child permission to participate in the off-site activities, please sign and return the permission slip or write a note to return to school the next day.
