Please be advised to the following reminder from all cats within the Town of Calmar…. Feral cats are a problem with in the Town of Calmar. These Feral cats can give even a vaccinated cat diseases that can may cause severe illness or even death. These illnesses can be transferred to humans which in turn could cause severe illness. The responsibility of keeping your cat from being at large rest solely with the cat owner. The fines at this moment are $100 each for at large/no licence/ unneutered or not spayed. Along with that comes the daily cost to house and care for the cat, as well as a transportation fee. If a cat is at large and has been in the care of our Calmar Town Shelter ( As of this moment is Country Kennel Bed and Biscuit) for longer than 72 hrs, the cat will be considered surrendered and may be sent out for adoption. These fines and processes have been in the Calmar Animal control Bylaw 2006-09 since 2006. It is up to the owner of any animal to understand the Bylaws/Regulations/Expectations/Responsibility related to ownership and of an animal with in the Town of Calmar Corporate Limits. I’m sending this reminder on behalf of all the cats in Calmar that want to stay in their loving home.
