Lote Tree
Description
www.lotetree.ca Our full-time Islamic school and Montessori officially opened its doors in 2006. Since then, the school has steadily grown grade by grade and student by student. Our focus has always been on providing the highest quality education possible. We believe that Islamic schools should seek to not only excel academically -- but also in nurture strong Islamic morals and values.
In addition to the school, we run an athletics program for Muslim children across the Greater Toronto Area called the Muslim Athletics Academy (MAA). MAA organizes athletics camps in various facilities around the city that bring Muslim children and youth from all backgrounds together in a healthy and nourishing environment.
Lote Tree's founder, Shaykh Zahir Bacchus, is a well-known community figure, teacher, Imam, and trained scholar. In addition to administering the school, he conducts sermons across the city and regularly holds classes for Muslim adults and families. His passion, and the passion of Lote Tree, is to develop educational and social programs that inspire, nurture, and build Islamic character.
The needs of the Muslim community in Brampton and surrounding areas are only growing. The sheer growth of the Muslim population is spiking demand for educational and community services. And the challenges Muslim families face today in raising faith-conscious children requires a more concerted approach to character development.
Lote Tree began its journey teaching classes for a small number of children in the houses of a few families. It then grew into an industrial unit that allowed the schools' operations to expand and benefit more students. It's currently housed in one of Brampton's largest mosques.
Our services are limited by our space. To expand the school, we need more classrooms. To provide a better learning experience for students, we need better facilities. And to serve the needs of the broader Muslim community in Brampton, we need a space that can house a diverse offering of educational and social services that the community requires.
