Project Green Day Saturday, May 27 from 9 - 12 Project Green Day is led by the Black Diamond Parks and Rec Committee and the Town of Turner Valley. This is a community effort to improve the appearance of the towns, while also helping to preserve the environment. Volunteers from both communities are asked to register at the Scott Seaman Sports Rink in Black Diamond on the morning of the event. Various areas of both towns will be cleaned up, along with garbage pick-up along the highway between Turner Valley and Black Diamond, and on the Friendship Trail. A volunteer appreciation BBQ will be served at the outdoor rink in Black Diamond around noon courtesy of the Foothills Lions Club, after all the work is done.

Water Conservation Tip A gentle reminder that Black Diamond and Turner Valley are at a Level II water conservation schedule. Please adhere to the days and times that are permitted. There are many quick and easy ways for you to conserve water - be sure to check the links on the Public Works page below.

2nd ANNUAL SUSTAINABILITY FAIR The Sustainable Black Diamond Advisory Committee will be hosting the 2nd Annual Sustainability Fair on Saturday May 13 at the Griffiths Centre in Black Diamond from 10-5. The Griffith Center is located at 122 Government Road. The Fair will be showcasing sustainable businesses from the area engaging in energy conservation, home energy audits, alternative energy, public transportation, air quality, green utility providers, local food and composting. There will be speakers on: • Composting at 11:00 • Residential solar at 2:00 • Sustainable resources at 3:00. Tours are available for those wanting to learn about energy conservation at 11:00, 1:00 and 3:00 Solar tours will be held at 12:00 and 4:00 With the recent changes to home utility billing we can show you ways to help reduce costs. And how to access the information on the upcoming provincial programs and a few local programs. Black Diamond is leading by example in conserving energy, alternative energy and water consumption. Find out what has been worked on to help reduce Town operating costs. See what can be adapted to conserve energy in your home!

Coffee 'n Conversation The monthly gathering of residents and available members of Council has been rescheduled. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 16 at 6:30-8:00 in the lower level of the Town Office.

Council Meeting A special meeting of Council will be held on Saturday, May 6 @ 1:00 in the Council Chambers. Council will be discussing the 2017 budget. As always, everyone is welcome to attend.

The results are in and we’re pleased to announce the results of “Name the Park”. 523 votes were submitted, and Erma Joy Brown Park was chosen with 52.6% of the vote. Thank you to all that participated, and look for the park dedication this summer!
