Our BMX program continues to expand every year. This summer we are pleased to welcome BMX Pro riders Stephen Versteeg and Calen Lockhart to Quetico to look after all things cycling from early May until the end of September. They look forward to riders of all skill and ability levels visiting Quetico so that they can help introduce this great sport, or hone the skills that will allow advancement to a new level. They will be orchestrating this summer's BMX Camp. Who are Stephen Versteeg and Calen Lockhart? Stephen will be taking a break from surfing, rock climbing and sky diving to focus on his favourite sport, BMX. He has built many BMX parks in Southern Ontario and brings this knowledge to expand our parks. He has worked with an array of talented riders and helped them develop solid technique. Calen has been an avid dirt, park and street rider for the past 8 years. A talented welder, he combines this skill with his love of riding to develop new features for our freestyle park. He stresses safety in all of his sessions. When are the summer sessions? This summer, Junior BMX Sessions will be offered four days a week from July 4 to September 1. Sessions run Monday to Thursday (except holidays). These sessions are best suited to athletes aged 8-14, but all are welcome. We start at 9:00 am each day and conclude at 5:00 pm. The cost is $30 per day (Or 20$ if you bring your own lunch). Water will always be provided on site. All monies collected from these workshops will be invested back into the park. Our goals include building a dirt park and expanding our indoor park. Athletes must be at least 8 years of age. Waivers must be signed by all park users, or by parent/guardian if rider is under 18. 5 loaner bikes and safety gear are available on a first come first served basis. This gear is professional grade. Registration is required. Please contact Michael Heaton, Stephen Versteeg or Calen Lockhart at 807-598-1600 or queticocs@gmail.com to register.
