Please be advised there has been a water line break at 44th Street. (East Hill) The Town of Athabasca will be turning the water on at 1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. AND 5:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (Today) in order for you to be able to prepare. The Town of Athabasca expects the water service to be restored May 17, 2017 by 6:00p.m. When the water service is restored, there may be a discoloration of the water. Residents should turn on the taps until the water clears. This should happen within a few minutes. Thank you for your patience in this matter. For further information please contact 780-675-2063

The Spray Park is hoping to be open the third weekend of May (May 20, 2017) as soon all risk of frost has passed.

Street Sweeping is now in progress Advance notice signs are being placed in residential areas advising residents to move vehicles to allow crews access to achieve a thorough cleaning. Please remove all driveway ramps and obey the “Street Sweeping” signs until they are removed. Contact Public Works at 780-675-2403 for more information.

2017 Minister’s Seniors Service Awards Since 1998, the Minister’s Seniors Service Awards have recognized outstanding Albertans of any age who volunteer their time to make a difference in the lives of seniors. Alberta Seniors and Housing is pleased to be accepting nominations for the 2017 Minister’s Seniors Service Awards. Individuals and organizations are eligible. This year, the Ministry is announcing the inaugural Alice Modin Award to recognize a senior who has provided long-term volunteer service to their community, promotes volunteerism, or whose volunteer efforts have had a provincial impact. All nominees will be recognized at Community Celebrations to be held across Alberta during the summer. The Minister will select up to eight award recipients to be honoured at a special ceremony in the fall of 2017. Dr. Josephine M. Brown Memorial Scholarship is an award of excellence in honour of Dr. Josephine M. Brown, a long time resident of the Town of Athabasca and her many years of service both, as a physician and a Town Councillor. This scholarship is an annual award, which acknowledges academic excellence and personal achievement. The scholarship is open to all Grade 12 students who currently attend Edwin Parr Composite High School in Athabasca, and intend to continue their post-secondary education in the medical field at an accredited two or four-year college or university, vocational school or technical training program. In the case of students accepted into Medical or Dental School, the applicant must be a graduate of Edwin Parr Composite High School in Athabasca within the previous five years.
