SOCCER SCHOOL (U4 to U6) - update The 2017 Soccer School program will run for 10 weeks from Tuesday May 23 to Thursday July 27. The program will be held at the Civitan Fields in Almonte every Tuesday and Thursday night (except when there is an auction at the Civitan). The time for U4 children will be from 6 to 6:45 pm while the U5 and U6 program will be from 6 to 7 pm. Group Born in U4 2013 U5 2012 U6 2011 Teams are being set up during the week of May 7-13. SOCCER IN ALMONTE - 1894 Our Club turns 50 this year but take a look at this photo. It shows a game of soccer (football in those days) being played at the Almonte Fairgrounds in 1894! Do you know anything about this photo? The game is being played at the time soccer was just getting organized in most European countries. Who are the teams? What was the event? Were these visiting teams from Europe or has Canada been playing soccer for as long as the rest of the world? There are a lot of people watching, looks like something special was happening. ASC coaches training ASC is hosting 2 coaching certification clinics on Saturday April 29th, 2017 at ADHS in order to give our coaches and assistant coaches more tools to draw from when working with our athletes. There is no cost for ASC coaches and assistants and you will earn the Active Start certification or Fundamentals certification. To register go to http://www.coachcentre.ca/default.aspx . You will need to create an account and select; Active Start (9:00-1:00) Eastern Ontario District Soccer Association Almonte Soccer Club Or Fundamentals (9:00-5:00) Eastern Ontario District Soccer Association Then register for the course. The active start course is aimed at the U4-U6 ages. The Fundamentals is aimed at u6-U8 ages. If you are coaching or assisting a higher level and would like more training, ASC will cover the cost. You would need to find a course, pay up front, then the club would reimburse the course fee.
