Last Friday we had the honor of hosting the 1st edition of the "5-star Quality Contest for Specialty Coffees", to award the best coffees that showed up during this harvest season so far. This week we had the honor of taking place, in person Calixto Jorge Peliciari, head of our Quality Department Team, in the 14th Alta Mogiana Region Quality Contest for Specialty Coffees. Some of our partner farmers from that region had the chance to be among the winners. That makes us really proud: to help pushing forward the limits of quality for Brazilian coffee. -=- -=- -=- Na última terça-feira, tivemos a honra de participar, personificados pelo nosso querido Calixto Jorge Peliciari, chefe do departamento de qualidade da CarmoCoffees, do 14º Concurso de Qualidade do Café da Região da Alta Mogiana. Alguns de nossos parceiros estiveram entre os vencedores... e isso é algo que nos orgulha: ajudar a levar adiante os limites da qualidade para os cafés do Brasil!

Desenvolvidas a partir de estudos do Professor Flavio Borem (UFLA - Universidade Federal de Lavras) e em parceria com BSCA, Klabin e a CarmoCoffees, entre outros. @carmocoffees has a beautiful new office and cupping space. There they host talks by agronomists, roasters, and other experts for the producers in the region. Cupping at origin is valuable not only to evaluate many lots, but also to calibrate with the origin cupping team.

Throwback to that intense cupping day in Brazil 2 weeks ago 😅💪🏽 #Repost @davidshaub with @repostapp ・・・ When people say "I wish I got paid to taste coffee" I don't think they realize how mentally and physically taxing it can be. Not to mention the mental, physical and emotional stress of traveling and being away from your family, etc. Then there is the mental stress of committing to coffees that you hope hold up. By the end of this week my CCS colleagues and I will have committed to what is roughly equivalent to half a million dollars worth of coffee between Colombia and Brazil, and that's just one trip - I'll be back in South America before the end of the year for more! I am very, very lucky to have this job... but it can also be quite stressful. Thankfully at @collaborativecs we have incredible partners like @carmocoffees who do much of the screening for us and make our jobs that much easier!
