In March, co-founder of Pour Les Femmes, Karen Fowler, spent 5 days in the KISANY workshop in Goma. Karen worked side-by-side with the women as they made 150 bags embroidered with the phrase 'mother sister friend'. 'Mother sister friend,' now a widely used saying, was originally used by Oprah Winfrey to describe her mentor, Maya Angelou. The 'mother sister friend' bag, available in 3 colour-ways, will be sold through www.plfdreams.com and at Selfridges in the UK.
