About the talk Eco-certification has been considered as a new trade initiative and globally widespread. In principle, it can improve the environmental performances but also requires a strong social capital between the coffee producers. Indonesia has obtained nine Geographical Identification (GI) for its coffees and it is the world's 4th biggest exporter. Prof Arifin will share his experiences in observing the requirements and the impact of Eco-certification for Lampung Coffee growers. About Prof. Dr Bustanul Arifin Mr Arifin has published more than 40 books, 80 academic journals, over 600 papers on agriculture social economics. He obtained his Master's degree and Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. He is also one of the senior economists at the Institute for Development of Economic and Finance). Starting his career teaching a group of farmers living in a remote area in Aceh without access to newspapers, TV, radio nor electricity, Bustanul had been contributing to Indonesian and the world of agriculture from the ground up, literally. Language The talk will be done in English-Indonesian. We will try to get a live translation on the two languages. You could enjoy this translation if you bring your own headset and a smartphone, a tablet or a computer.
