Rirratjingu Aboriginal Corporation Chairman Bakamumu Marika and Senior Rirratjingu Traditional Owners met with the Prime Minister in East Arnhem Land, in September 2014, to request a comprehensive review of the operations of the Northern Land Council, which is a Commonwealth Statutory Authority. The Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) has released a report from an investigation into the ‘Effectiveness Of The Governance of the Northern Land Council’, June 2017. The report mentions ‘failed administrative processes’ and identifies ‘considerable work remains for the council to be administratively effective’. The June 2017 report is the most recent of consecutive ANAO reports, into the running of the Northern Land Council, to identify concern. In 2015, an ANAO audit identified ‘serious weaknesses in financial management’. See link to the report below:

Rirratjingu Aboriginal Corporation proudly sponsors the Djarrak Football Club. Happy birthday to the late Mr Maymuru. A beautiful old photo surfaced today of the Djarrak Football Club. The picture features legendary club champion, Mr Maymuru, who captained the side during the 1970's and early 80's and wore number 3. The discovery of the photograph was particularly sentimental today on the anniversary of Mr Maymuru's birthday. His daughter Araluen tonight coached the Djarrak women's team, who remain undefeated. The Gove Afl was formed in November 1973 to accommodate social football games between Nhulunbuy and Yirrkala. Djarrak Football Club won the competitions first contested Premiership in 1975. The team is pictured below with Rirratjingu Aboriginal Corporation founder Roy Marika The Father Of Land Rights (front) in his iconic white shirt, used today by Rirratjingu staff and directors as the corporation's uniform. Djarrak has won six Grand Finals to date. Premiership years: 1975, 1980, 1981, 2000, 2009 and 2015. #WeAreDjarrak #DjarrakAlways
