FAQ 7 - Pool Safety Common Faults

The three common faults that we see that can affect your pool safety are – Resuscitation signs, generally they will not last forever so they need to be looked at and ensured that they are in good physical condition, they're not obscured and that they are the current resuscitation sign. Secondly, objects that are placed within the pool area or adjacent to the pool fencing on the exterior can compromise the safety of your pool fencing, they can be used to climb or assist in climbing your pool fence, so ensure that you keep at least a meter buffer on the exterior of your swimming pool and 300 millimetres on the interior of your swimming pool, as well. Thirdly, look after your gate. The hinges and the latch mechanism require regular maintenance. Failure to look after these valuable pieces of hardware will result in the gate not functioning correctly and potentially being left to ajar, and this can lead to some very tragic circumstances. FAQ 5 - Do I require Inspections

We often get asked, do I require inspections during the construction of my building project? It depends on what you are building, if it’s habitable, yes, you will need at least a slab, block work inspection if you are doing masonry construction, timber frame inspection and a final inspection. If you're building a garden shed or a non-habitual structure, then all you require is a final inspection. Call our office at any time and we will organise one of the boys to come out and have a look. FAQ 3 - Can I build in under my house

We often get asked, why can’t just I just build-in under my house? It’s under the roof. Yes, it’s under the roof but unfortunately there's a lot of issues or a number of issues that need to be considered when enclosing underneath an existing building. A lot of the times the building is not the right height underneath, maybe it’s only 1.8 meters high. A minimum of 2.4 meters is required for habitable areas. Finished floor levels must be at least a minimum of 225 above the finished ground level. Potentially higher if you are in a Q100 flood inundation area, and the external walls must be weatherproof and waterproof. You can’t just build it out of any old thing. So come and see us at All Construction Approvals, we will make sure you don’t run into any trouble. Call 07 4054 4588 http://acapprovals.com.au/
