We are a not-for-profit organisation that help feed, clothe and support the homeless and disadvantaged community members of the Hawkesbury and surrounds. For over six years, every day of the week, Hawkesbury's Helping Hands Inc has supported those experiencing homelessness in the Hawkesbury and surrounds. We provide love, kindness, food, toiletries, clothing, shoes, blankets, sleeping bags, tents, swags, pet supplies etc, also advice on services available and if possible, support with accommodation. Free meals are served three days a week to our friends in a local park. To date we have distributed over 250, 000 plates of food, with over 150+ packed meals to go weekly. We also distribute 21 -35 emergency family food hampers weekly, throughout the vast Hawkesbury.
For the past four years we have hosted a "Christmas Day Get Together", It is a free lunch on Christmas Day with no strings, no questions and no judgement, for everyone to enjoy !!
Three years ago we started collecting and distributing formal wear, to ensure that no child in the Hawkesbury or surrounds cannot attend their farewell or formal, because they cannot afford to purchase an outfit.

We also supply lunches to local schools, and this year had a back to school drive where we collected and distributed over 120 backpacks to children in need un our community.

Recently we have started a breakfast club three days a week in a local High School.

We work alongside and support many other charities and organisations, and work closely with numerous agencies, who often refer their clients to us.

Huge thank you to Jane and Wendy for all the help today unpacking and sorting the formal wear. We still have along way to go but it is certainly taking shape. Lots more racks to put together and lots more dresses to hang. There are some amazing dresses in all sizes, colours and lengths, shoes, costume jewellery and evening bags as well as suits, pants, shirts, waistcoats dress shoes. After much discussion we are going to loan them out, as opposed to gifting them like we have in previous years, free of charge to anyone who cannot afford an outfit on their special night. This will ensure that all students will have a larger selection to choose from and the clothes can also be worn over and over again for many years to come to many formals, farewells and graduations. And we would hate to think that they might just sit somewhere, these were all made to be worn to many special nights. We wil requite student ID and parent ID. Working on a flier now which we will put up later to share. Thank you so much to everyone who has kindly donated !! Thanks to your generosity and beautiful donations think we should be able to outfit anyone who needs.

First things first, the venue has been set and confirmed for our annual Free Christmas Day lunch, we are hiring the Masonic Hall, 731 George Street, South Windsor, this year. A much bigger venue, where we will all be under the one roof ( and it's all air conditioned ). We will have our usual bus service doing pick up's from various locations throughout the Hawkesbury as well as the Windsor railway station. Anyway now thats done, we will start organising everything else in the upcoming weeks.

We see this far too often and most of the calls we receive coming for assistance later in the evening, when everything is already full or closed !! Desperate calls from mothers with children parked on the side of the road with nowhere to go, and who have left with nothing. (we have also had phone calls from Fathers in the same position).

As you know we usually accept donations at the Windsor Cwa on Saturday mornings. To save being in two places at once hoping if you had planned to drop any items off that you wouldn’t mind dropping off to us at the Windsor Leagues Club ( where we are setting up and collecting formal wear ), it is located at George St & Rifle Range Road, South Windsor. We will be there from 9 a.m to 1 p.m . It's the first building on the far right hand side of the car park where you enter. Pictured below. Thanking you in advance x

It is Anti-Poverty Week across Australia when thousands of people will be working to raise awareness of how the experience of poverty affects the wellbeing of not just individuals or families but the whole community. “Poverty” describes the situation where people in a particular society cannot afford the essentials that most people in that society take for granted.
