Zone Swimming Carnival Clash with Selective Schools Test We are proud of all our students who qualified for the Zone Swimming Carnival. It's unfortunate the Zone Swimming Carnival clashes with the Selective School Test. Some Year 6 students who qualified to swim in the Zone Carnival on Thursday 9 March may not be able to participate as they are sitting the Selective Schools test. Students affected by the clash will have their Darcy Road Swim Carnival time submitted. Their times will be forwarded to Sydney West for consideration to see if it is a faster time than those swimming on the day. Swimmers competing on the day will not be disadvantaged. Sydney West is aware of the disappointment this has caused and work to avoid these kinds of conflicts in the future.

Thank you to those children who signed up for the Darcy Road Coding Club. If your child was absent on the day and was unable to sign up, please have your child come to see Ms Leon to register their interest. We have had an overwhelming number of students join. At this point, all children who registered their interest are members of the Coding Club. We are very excited and will begin the Coding Club on Monday 6th of March. Mr Ronzel will take the Monday group, Ms Leon will take the Tuesday group, Mrs Harrison will take the Wednesday group and Mr Smith will take the Thursday group. Please have your child let their coding club teacher know upon their return to school if they were absent due to illness or leave. Students will be removed from the club if they are repeatedly absent without explanation.

Reading to those you love and care for is a wonderful way to end the day. Five reasons why reading is important. - Reading expands your child's vocabulary. - The act of reading works as an exercise to improve reading fluency and comprehension. - You can't comprehend what you can't read. - The more you read, the better you are at it! - Reading more can improve your writing skills.

Dear Muslim Parents and Caregivers, Did you know that all children in NSW Public Schools are entitled to a session of religious education every week? However, unfortunately not all Muslim children in Darcy Road Public School are receiving scripture due to a shortage of Muslim scripture teachers. These children are currently missing out on this invaluable opportunity to learn about the beauty of their faith. Are you interested in filling this position? Scripture lessons are held on once a week every Friday 11:30am until 12:30pm. All information and materials are provided by the Islamic Special Religious Education (ISRE) body of the Islamic Council of NSW. It’s easier than you think and is also extremely rewarding!! In just ½ hour per week, YOU can make a big difference to the Betterment of our children. Show our children how important Islam is to you and how vital it is for the development of our community. Your time and help will be greatly appreciated and immensely rewarding! Please feel free to contact us on 9708 0880 or 0408 614 343 (Mon-Thu 9:30am-2:30pm), or email info@isre.org.au for further details or interest.
