Not all our patients have teeth!! Tongue ties can make it difficult for newborns to breast feed aswell as making it uncomfortable for the mother. This is little Francesca who at 2months old is one of our youngest patients...picture taken 10mins after having a frenectomy to release her tongue tie! Happy little girl who will hopefully breast feed more easily now.

Do you know what to do if a tooth is knocked out? This little girl who fell and knocked her tooth out this week made me think of how important it is for all of us to know what to do in the event of this happening. Good early treatment will make the difference between keeping or losing the tooth. If the cells covering the tooth root are allowed to dry out, which only takes about 20minutes, the long term prognosis for the replanted tooth is poor. Fortunately, this little girl had a quick thinking school nurse who gently cleaned the dirt off the tooth root with saline (milk is also ok) and repositioned it back into the socket until we could see her. They also managed to find the broken top piece of the tooth in the playground which we have successfully bonded back into place. Successful end to an emotional day for all involved!!
