Construction joints in lean-mix concrete slabs were sure to lead to reflective cracking of the 200mm thick deep-lift asphalt pavement at the Airport Drive Extension. In April 2015 consultant Aurecon specified Huesker's "SAMIgrid" to be placed directly on the slabs to reduce stress concentrations and prevent cracking of the AC. SAMIgrid is especially designed to be placed directly on concrete paving to intercept anticipated cracking from construction joints. Other applications include cement-treated crushed rock pavements where shrinkage-cracking is a common problem.

Contractor John Holland laid over 18,000sqm of "extremely-robust" woven geotextile "W155" recently at the Level Crossing Removal Project at Ormond. Originally the client intended to use a similar strength non-woven grade but the cost savings of using a strong woven geotextile gave cause for thought. W155 acts as a separation layer and provides tensile strength to help stabilise soft roadway subgrades.

Moree By-Pass A key to the best installation of Hatelit C Asphalt Grid is the use of a purpose-built installation frame. SRS Roads, with Tropic Asphalt installed 7,200sqm of Hatelit C for Hazell Bros at the RMS Moree By-Pass project in June 2014. The potential for reflective cracking through new asphalt lead to the choice of Hatelit C as a strain-alleviating layer. SRS used a simple steel frame supported on a front-end loader to install the Hatelit C. SRS has experienced, competent crews Australia-wide to ensure top quality installations of Hatelit C.
