I had the privilege of meeting up with Yarra Yering winemaker, Sarah Crowe, who got awarded winemaker of the year. Sarah's range of wines are incredible to say the least. One of the standouts was the Warramate Riesling which is a "worked" style Riesling. The Riesling has some malolactic fermentation and oak maturation producing some rich, mid palate boldness and creaminess, nice and textual with supporting acidity on the finish. The whole Warramate range is impressive. Needless to say, the Yarra Yering dry red no.1 is superb! A balanced, structured wine with layers of complexity.
