Sudanese Minister for Minerals, Professor Hashim Ali Salim and new Ambassador of Sudan, His Excellency Dr Ibrahim Baroudi and group of delegation visited Australia Light Foundation today.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, As you would know, last week for a six day aid program, we travelled to Bangladesh to visit the Rohingya Muslims. We visited the refugee camps in Bangladesh and met many innocent people who have been oppressed and tortured. We saw many people that have either lost their close family members or have lost their homes and have been forced out of their homelands to save their own lives. On behalf of you all, we were able to provide some assistance to them and atleast show them that they are not alone. To date, for the assistance of the Rohingan Muslims the Australia Light Foundation has collected a total of $74,942 from donors. Below is a detailed breakdown on how we spent these donations on your behalf: • 1 Artesian water drill machine valued at $20 000. To be used in many areas to drill and provide underground drinking water • 20 Water pumps (wells) providing underground drinking water valued at $500 each totaling $10,000 • 100 Solar powered light globes provided to familes valued at $100 each totaling $10,000 • 62 Street lights including lightpoles valued at $160 each totaling ($9,920) • Construction of 10 toilets and showers for exclusive use of females built using bricks valued at $1,000 each totaling ($10,000) • Construction of 5 Masjids valued at $1,500 each totaling ($7,500) •500 families were provided $15 each in cash and food totaling ($7,522) All travel, airfares and accommodation costs of volunteers were paid by themselves ensuring that there were no project overheads or administration fees. 100% of the collected funds were distributed. Rohingya Refugee Collection Centre This is the place where humanity is seen absent and the modern world is silent and insensitive. The people who have made it here are only those that have been able to escape the heavy massacre. Amongst the new group of refugees that arrived last night, we met a young girl who had been raped by a Myanmar Soldier. She hugged our volunteer Sister Rubina and was crying in deep pain. All we are doing is crying with them. The innocent look in the face of this young girl will leave a deep scar in my memory. A look that i can never forget. What meets the arriving refugees is further starvation, hunger, poverty and a difficult life. They are in long queues for many hours under the hot sun with no protection, waiting to recieve some food and a bottle of water, only enough to help them survive. They are all really tired and absolutely exhausted. They look around in hopelessness. It is as though there is no difference for them between being alive of dead. O Allah, we pray that you punish those people who have oppressed, tortured, harassed, killed, ruined the lives of these innocent people. Amin amin amin. Fatih
