Peptide technology is one of the latest breakthroughs in anti-aging science, and we’ve got 6 active peptides working synergistically in our Lqd Eye Restore. Why there are no COLOURS & FRAGRANCE added to our products! We’ve talked before about why we leave fragrances out of our products (due to them being the single largest irritant in skin care products) but I’d like to explain in more detail why we don’t add colours to our products as well. To hold colour and fragrance in skin care products, lotions and body washes, companies use a class of chemicals called phthalates. There aren’t many chemicals on the market that you can put on your skin that are worse than phthalates. These chemicals are responsible for Endocrine disruption, developmental and reproductive toxicity, organ system toxicity and bioaccumulation - in fact if the product you are using includes any of the following terms, phthalate, DEP, DBP or FRAGRANCE - you are already being exposed to them, and with recent studies out of Melbourne University showing 2 out of 3 people are suffering some form of sensitivity to fragrant products it’s not hard to see why that is so. Most skin care products on the market contain fragrances – and essential oils are no better. The simple word “fragrance” is a descriptive word that is used to mask exactly what ingredients are hidden inside your products! Two decades of research into phthalates suggests a whole host of disruption to the hormonal system in both men and women, ranging from birth defects in new born babies, all the way through to reducing the level of sex hormones and the functioning of sex organs which can lead to breast cancer in women, low sperm counts and infertility in men and attention deficit disorder in children. So knowing this research exists is enough for us to stay away from using Fragrance or Colours in our products. I’d suggest you check the ingredient panel on the back of the skin care products you are using today, and if they have the words fragrance or added fragrance, you throw them out straight away. You can find our scrub in Bloomingdale's in the USA as well as in SEPHORA and David Jones stores in Australia. Most guys who use our scrub notice an immediate improvement in their skin, due to the combination of glycolic acid and our 100% biodegradable micro-beads. Most other scrubs on the market are just mechanical scrubs using micro-beads to remove the top layer of the skin to make your skin look fresh. While it’s better than not using a scrub at all, the best scrubs also have Glycolic acid which works below the surface to really start to improve the skin from within. Glycolic acid is one of a group of acids known as alpha hydroxy acids (AHA). It is found naturally in sugar cane and grapes. It is colorless, odorless and highly soluble in water. It is used to improve the skin’s appearance and texture. It can reduce wrinkles, acne scarring, and hyperpigmentation and improve many other skin conditions. Glycolic acid can do all this because it is able to penetrate the top layers of the skin and works by breaking down substances that bond dead skin cells together. No one promised life would be smooth sailing! Well 2016 has been anything but smooth. We’ve ridden some enormously high waves, followed by some incredibly low troughs, and then there have been the constant ripples that you tread water with, wondering which way the tide will turn. But at the end of the day, what we can say is that it has been the most thrilling ride of our life. Has everything gone to plan? No, not always, but it’s important to not only focus on the negative, but the positive as well. So often in life we spend all our time focusing on what went wrong, that we often miss out on enjoying all the things that actually went right. In fact, without making mistakes you either aren’t trying hard enough, or you’re not creating something that is new and unique. A life without mistakes is also one that lacks risks, rewards and history breaking achievements, so never be afraid to say you tried and failed, as every one of those failings is a potential learning experience. Embrace what went wrong and walk away knowing you are stronger because of it. I’m a big believer in the saying “that everything happens for a reason”, and you can either chose to believe and accept that, or you can forever grieve and wish for what might have been. One perspective holds you frozen in time, where the other allows you to move forward knowing that life is full of twists and turns, ups and downs. 2016 with the overabundance of work; the challenges with managing a family, keeping up with our fitness goals and trying to keep a sane head when there are not enough hours in the day - certainly did challenge us as, we crawled our way into December. Having said that, without that personal sacrifice, we could never have achieved what we have, going from less than 5 staff to over 50, with successful launches into Bloomingdales in the USA, David Jones in Australia and continuing success in Sephora, while sowing the seeds for further expansion of our business across the UK in 2017. It’s also the right time to thank all of the amazing people that have supported us this year both online and in the real world, who’ve helped build our business into a global success story. Without you guys buying our products and engaging with our brand, Lqd would never have made it onto the shelves of these big international retailers. As we prepare for 2017, we also think about what we want to look back on this time next year, while never forgetting that life is a fickle beast, with us one minute but can potentially be taken away from us the next. It’s great to prepare for the future, but at the same time, remember the saying; Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present. So enjoy the gift of today, and spread the positive stories of your life with others, while trying to play down the negatives – if I could ask for one thing in 2017, it would be that people spent more time inspiring others around them and celebrating their success – That’s the 2017 I’d love to look back on.
