“The highlight of my year has to be the faces and smiles of the students that are in my room. Being part of their time while they are in hospital is a privilege and they make me laugh and smile every day. There is no more fun place on Earth than in the year 7-8 classroom at the LCCH School, unless there are superheroes around, then they win.” Anna, Year 7-8 teacher.

Families travel long distances to Brisbane for treatment for themselves or family members. It is a highlight for us to work with students and to share in such fabulous experiences as when the Ekka came to the hospital. Our teaching context is always varied and we are able to provide the opportunity to join in hospital and wider community events to engage and enrich children's learning. “My highlight was definitely our wonderful Sports Day. Seeing Prof. Pearn and Sr. Angela Mary Doyle compete in the egg and spoon race was spectacular. The Olympians who attended really got into the spirit of it all and made the day very special for our hospital school students. Thanks Juiced TV for adding lots of special effects!” Michelle, Principal.

“This year, in Term 3, our years 5/6 and 7/8 classes went on an excursion to the historic Newstead House. My favourite part was watching our students be immersed in learning about the history of the house and the surrounding suburbs and tribes, and what it was like to live in the 1800's. It was also lovely to see new friendships blossom among the students as we spent the day learning and playing together.” Carly, Year 5/6 teacher.

‘My favourite part of working in the 7-8 classroom, besides all of the cake, is when with giant hearts we get to send our students home. While we love having them, sending them back happy and healthy to their home schools is my favourite part of my job.’ Felise, teacher aide, Year 7 and 8.
