Statue of Liberty dumbbell press for Lek, post SHOULDER RECONSTRUCTION. Great for early overhead stability. Start light and in a comfortable range. Use an adjustable dumbbell. Progress weight and range weekly and only add weight to one end. The longer the dummbell the better! You can also use a kettlebell but requires a little more grip strength. #rehab #shoulder #shoulderreco #rotatorcuff #physio #chef #statueofliberty

Runner's World

Do you experience ‘shin splints’ (or Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome)? These are common (13-20%) injuries in runners with signs and symptoms including: tenderness, oedema and bony irregularities along the distal 1/3 posteromedial tibia, reduced ankle ROM, pronated rear and midfoot. Training factors (such as distance per week, rest periods, running surface, and footwear) contribute up to 60% in the likelihood of developing shin splints. This is despite advances in both training regimes and footwear. As stated by Walter Herzog at the International Running Symposium (2014) - “There has been no change in running injury rates in the last 40 years despite epidemiological and biomechanical research.” Watch this short video for examples of some simple yet effective exercises to treat and prevent shin splints.

EASY RUNNERS TIP! FOOT STRIKE and TIBIAL ANGLE. A simple instruction to think about landing more on the midfoot changes the angle of the tibia at foot strike so that the leg is producing a forward propulsive force rather than a breaking force. If the tibia is angled backwards, the force is going backwards! This simple change also made a huge difference to this patients knee pain. #running #rehab #physio
