Pinnwag is a division of Christiansen rural pty ltd A completely Australian and entirely family owned Wagyu beef cattle operation set in the Maranoa region of Queensland Austraila. Originally started by Peter (deceased) and Joanne Christiansen the operations have been carried on by Joanne (wife) and Paul and Kellieanne (son and. Daughter in law ) and there two daughters Taylor and Tori. With the inception of Wagyu genetics via cross breeding in 1998, putting a true Aussie spiel on it via covering quotes like they are so ugly with yea we got them so we knew our neighbours wouldn't steal them And in house name changes from itoshegenami to Ito shag u an mitchufuku to Mitch a fu$k u. Jokes aside we are very fond of acquainted to and proud of not only our own cattle but the entire Wagyu breed and cross breeds in Austraila not to take away from the Japanese and their original breed of wagyus but through the foresight and determination of the pioneers of Wagyu to australia they are now not only found but flourish from the top end to bottom of australia in hugely variant climates and conditions which is a massive testament to the breed. Whilst not at the top of the tree for looks and appearance, possibly near the other end we believe they are almost unmatchable for obviously marbling but also temperament, fertility, durability and calving ease. I guess we fit in the middle there somewhere in location and size and scale etc, age old saying but true big enough to count small enough to care. At any stage Paul and team are happy to discuss any ideas, queries, comments etc about Wagyu in australia and their own operations. We always have options to help in any other operations such as bulls for sale & lease, feeder and finished cattle, ptic heifers and cows, embryo's and semen.
Our horse division is a real family passion that ties into the business and hobbies really well. The entire family are horse enthusiasts Our country and operations are much more suited to more horse than motorbike usage. Horse Activities include breeding, raising, buying and selling, riding, training, working, mustering cattle, checking cattle and country, fences, feed reserves, identifying of newborns, mothering up, cutting out, heat checking and of course Campdrafting. The main line of bloodlines are Australian Stock horse and Quarter horse cross focussing mainly on temperament and ability. We mainly try and sell horses that are of say minimum age 4 and up and are more ready to go on for their new owners sooner. This then allows the younger ones to receive the time and work they require. The variation of riders from the girls and children to workers and backpackers and the work our horses receive sets them up very well to go on for the new owners be it young or old, inexperienced or experienced.
