This week we say goodbye to UT06 3.4 and welcome UT140 3.4 to Roebourne. UT06 has been with the brigade for over 15 years and was one of the original UT builds. It has served the brigade well and will now be retired into the Hi Fire Season Fleet so you may see it working in other parts of the state. We look forward to operating our new UT140 and see if it can live up to the legacy that UT06 leaves behind. For those who are unfamiliar with DFES acronyms. UT stands for Urban Tanker (A type of truck build) and 3.4 stands for 3000L water capacity and 4WD.

Cyclone season is knocking on the door!
Sometimes we need to fight fire with fire but leave it to the professionals, like they always say... Don't try this at home!
Starting around 2:30pm today, over the next two months we will be conducting Hazard Reduction Burns in and around the Roebourne Fire District as part our of preparations for the upcoming fire season. We will endeavour to work with the wind to reduce the smoke from the burns affecting the town. We will post on our page each time we are conducting a burn to let everyone know. Today's burns will be behind the Yaandina Age Care Facility and along the pipeline track. Please watch out for emergency services vehicles. Please share amongst our community. Thanks guys. Apologies to the Roebourne Community for the noise. The siren you heard tonight was the Town Siren on top of our station building, it appears to have malfunctioned we have cut the power to the siren so that it will not go off again and will get it repaired as soon as possible, sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. The Town Siren's purpose is to alert volunteer firefighters to any incoming jobs but with today's mobile phone technology it is rarely required. Please share this around to all community members so everyone is made aware of what the noise was. Again sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. - Captain of Roebourne VFRS
