Animal shelters and charities are bursting at the seams this spring/summer - we thought we would help! Several wonderful volunteers have been hand raising the most beautiful kittens and NOW - it's your opportunity to let them into YOUR lives! Meet the gorgeous, playful and affectionate brother and sister duo: PANDA & TOM. Panda is a sweet black and white female shorthair whose eyes will melt your soul! Tom, a slightly fluffier boy, with blue eyes is equally as beautiful! Approx 5 weeks of age, both kittens love to play, cuddle and can purr loudly already. They are well socialised with adult cats, dogs and children. They are not fearful and enjoy contact with humans. Both kittens will have received their first 6 week vaccination and a voucher for a discounted desexing procedure (when age appropriate). Panda is available for $150 and Tom is available for $100. If you wish to take both kittens together, both are available for a total cost of $200. It would be so wonderful to keep them together! If you are interested, or know someone who might be - please share this post. What an amazing gift for the right family at Christmas. Please think carefully about whether you can bring an animal into your/your children’s lives, pets aren’t just for Christmas...... Just call the clinic on 8682 3100 for further information on how to contact the seller/have a visit.

Dr Amy and the team at Lincoln Vets want to remind you that grass seeds are rife at this time of year! The barbed nature of many types of grass seed means they are prone to getting caught in the hair coat, and may quickly burrow in to the skin causing inflammation, infection and pain. Grass seeds can become caught between toes where they may form abscesses, in eyes, ears and in skin folds. It is important to check eyes, ears, feet and skin folds including genitals once to twice daily for seeds during at-risk time periods. Trimming the coat, particularly the feet, can reduce the risk of grass seeds getting caught. If your animal shows signs of pain or lameness, head shaking, increased blinking or eye discharge, or if you notice any regions of focal redness and swelling, a grass seed may be at the root of the problem. Present your animal to your local vet for examination. We have special forceps that allow us to remove seeds from hard to reach places like the ear canal, and can give drugs that make the process of grass seed removal more comfortable for your pet. It is important to remove grass seeds as soon as possible. They have a tendency to migrate, and can burrow in to body cavities or organs and cause potentially life threatening inflammation or infection. Remember – prevention is always preferable to treatment!
