Floreat: Thursdays Maria qualified as a Massage Therapist in 2010 and went on to complete a Diploma of Remedial  of the Australian Association of Massage Therapists and holds a Diploma of Business.

Maria is invested in each of her clients and carefully tailors each treatment around their specific needs.  She combines Deep Tissue, , Myofasical Release, Sports Massage, Relaxation and Trigger Point Therapy into her massage practice. Maria enjoys watching the transformation of her client’s health and wellbeing and is passionate about educating her clients, empowering them to take control of their own health.

Maria has worked with the West Australian Women’s National Basketball Team, the West Coast Waves in their 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons and has provided massage therapy to a variety of athletes including rugby players, cyclists, strength athletes, runners as well as clients with life challenging illnesses which she gained through her two years as a volunteer at WAAC.

GET CREATIVE WITH YOUR HYDRATION With this hot weather H2O sometimes, just gets plain boring so... try jazzing it up with this simple and easy recipe that you will not only love but will also help prevent headaches, prevent you from feeling grumpy and cranky as well as help decrease joint pain. You will need * Muffin tin/mould * 6 lemons and/or limes * Water Instructions: 1.Ensure your muffin tin/mould will fit in the freezer 2. Thinly slice up lemons and limes (mint, strawberries, berries, etc) 3. Place two or three slices of lemon and/or lime in each section of the muffin tin and freeze overnight 4. Carefully fill the muffin tin/mould with water 5. Freeze overnight 6. Pop out a few of the ice cubes and place in a glass, water bottle or jug 7. Add water and it is ready to drink

Massage therapy decreases pain and perceived fatigue after long-distance Ironman triathlon: a randomised trial

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!! JUST 7 MINUTES OF MASSAGE SUFFICIENT TO DECREASE PAIN AND FATIGUE. Ironman is a strenuous competition that requires high energy expenditure and generates high physical and metabolic stress as a result of having to cover a total distance of 226km, which consists of swimming 3.8km, cycling 180km and running 42.2km. It is not surprising then, that post event the most common symptoms are pain and muscle fatigue. The study showed that just 7 minutes of massage was sufficient to decrease pain and perceived fatigue, and that massage of greater duration may be able to increase the extent of these effects. The positive effects of massage on perceived fatigue are related to greater localised blood circulation either by physical manipulation or temperature increase, which aid in the removal of metabolic waste. Other studies support the effects of massage therapy on participants with musculoskeletal disorders, and concluded that massage therapy as a stand-alone intervention reduces pain, improves function, aids muscle recovery helping to decrease muscle stiffness and reduces delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). Taking it further it would be fair to say that this could be applied to not only athletes but to anyone participating in any recreational sports and/or activities even after a hard day in the garden.
