Here's a shout out to Sam Colvin, Business Development Rep here at Austral Fisheries. We are very proud of our Sam - about this time last year he entered his first triathlon, the Busselton 70.3 Half Ironman, with the sole intention of simply finishing such a gruelling race. Well, he did that, and he says, "Now I’ve become an addict – something in my wildest dreams I never thought was possible!" Coming in at 42nd place for his age category in Busselton 12 months ago, Sam has now qualified for the Half Ironman World Championships in Tennessee this September. Sam says "Since I’ve taken up this sport, it's sent me on a mixed emotional roller coaster ride – both physically and mentally. Early mornings in the pool, long miles in the saddle and countless hours stamping the pavement has fuelled this addiction." Sam credits these recent results to undertaking a responsible coaching program with Valetudo Health. "It has helped immensely, and I look forward to pushing my abilities beyond limits moving forward." Well done, Sam!

To celebrate the start of our 2017 Banana prawn season, we are giving away a 5kg carton of Banana prawns to one lucky winner. These delicious Aussie prawns are completely guilt free - they're certified as sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council, and we have offset all the emissions associated with the catching of these prawns by planting trees, which has been certified by the Australian Government Carbon Neutral program. All you need to do to enter is share this post and like our page. The winner will be announced on Friday 28th April. Good luck!

Prawns: A Sustainable Nutrition - Austral Fisheries

The humble prawn, although small, packs a lot of protein. When comparing to a similar serving of beef or chicken, a prawn contains almost the same amount of protein, but much less fat, making it a lighter option, and a more sustainable one too. Read more here!

We are proud to be doing our bit against climate change, alongside our friends at Carbon Neutral, by offsetting 100% of our carbon emissions through the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor revegetation project, north of Perth. The project is certified by the Gold Standard Foundation, which not only takes into account reductions in carbon dioxide from our atmosphere, but other social, environmental, heritage and economic benefits to the local community #MyClimateAction #SustainableSeafood #CNfish
