facebook.comwe get lots of like really awesome and really rare birds (like the beautiful singing native Red eared firetail finchs!!!) at ngoolark nursery because of our very varied all year round menu we provide daily but today we had a very welcome larger visitor (who eats our pigeons) who unexpectely got very close to have a chat and a Selfie taken-i think its a youngish Nankeen Kestrel- but please birdies correct me if im wrong ; )....
Headsup! ngoolark nursery will be spreading the Xmas cheer by stumping up for sale these rare, hard to get, highly desirable perfect little puppies (pictured) from 3.oopm THIS FRIDAY at the nursery in South Freo!!!!! a fruit tree that is native to South Central Mexico, classified as a member of the flowering plant family Lauraceae. Also called an alligator pear (apparently) this refers to the tree's fruit, which is botanically a large berry containing a single seed!!!!! they are grafted, are in 30 LT pots and will set you back 99 clams.- deal is- first in best fed (in a coupla years), no reserves, and in the interest of fairness- limit of one per customer.
Job: verge Location: Freo - Client wanted to replace the uneven patchy "lawn" with something low maintainence and flat asto be able to get of car onto- so the ngoolark team got rid of the lawn- threw a few recycled pavers down, a few rocks, a bit of Dymondia and the obligatory Eremophillas...problem solvered
Job name: Burdettianas Waterhole- Location: Fremantle- just finished today in time for rain- before we started- this courtyard was all paved- a heat trap in summer and no privacy from new 3 storey neighbours- our solution was to build a limestone wall around a water feature- backfill with soil and Soil Solver and on top chuck a bit of WA bushjunk- semi- dwarf Hakea Laurinas (Stockdale sensations) semi- dwarf mallees and 4 types of groundcover banksias and last but not least...some Eremophilla youngii's + plus to fill their own spaces- red Dragonfruits & Sunshine special passionfruit. Client very happy- local honeyeaters & black cockies happier with the drink & food now on tap- so everyones a winner. Could your courtyard do with a ngoolark touch up? very expierenced & friendly service- reasonable rates- free quotes.
brief- make lawn, paving and limestone walls more interesting- hard to- but we added rocks and grasstrees (and all still alive!!! and powering on- not only transplanted correctly....but right conditions- full sun and hot spot- with a bit of protection- roo paws, everlastings rocks cant go wrong...
Brief was a no retic, no maintainence but "with some flowers", in full-blast northely aspect all day sun & reflected heat box with dead inert soil (by years of high dose lawn fertlizer) verge garden in Beaconsfield-- did i mention it gets lashed by salty winds?- the client wanted it to be lush & low for the view but cover the wall and reduce the squareness and pimped for not much coin- hey no probs! so the ngoolark landscape team went to work and found some half buried moss rock and a blue slab out the back- (nearly every house has rocks we can recycle in different ways!) brought in some sweet Gingin loam & a bit of ecologically harvested South- West WA river rock then sprinkled some tough local (possibly what was there before!)- valuable habitat plants including Snake Bush (Hemiandra pungens- lizards use it for protection as it lets in light & to get their old skins off! local moths, insects & butterflies eat the flowers) and Rotto Emu bush (Eremophila glabra dawes - birds & lizards eat the flowers- and yes blacky cockys eat the fruit ; ) we then added a bit of water, seaweed and sunlight... and voilà. job took a day, a mudmap & some faith by the client- & not many of their $'s ..u reckon the lizards, moths, butterflies and birds love it? more than the flat half-dead weed-infested lawn before anyways to be sure- and what do you think the client reckons about this good design is good design, right plant right spot, so no weeds + no retic= no maintainence equation? let us appy it to your new or old- verge or garden- and add habitat- and value to your home- ontime and on-budget. limited native planting season slots still available- give us a ring, an email or message stick, or ask about our services instore- the ngoolark nursery is packed with natives at the momment and still got the bestest friendlyest advice AND native potting/ planting mix around! bring your dog
Since 2010- we also design, suppy & install all types of gardens using modern & traditional japanese design principles, elements & techniques- but using mostly local, WA & Aussie plants, wood and stone to create beautiful habitat for your local wildlife- and for yourself & family - our intention is post a variety of past jobs mainly from Freo to Vic park- with a few down south jobbies- (discrete pics with the owners permission ; ) - please watch this space... for the momment- check out a design, supply & install and reclaimed lawn & roses job we did in East Vic Park not so long ago we called Lizard Island -u can perhaps work out by the pic why!- in the 1st pic are also bottle trees (Brachychiton rupestris) and a large Pandanus! & the frog ponds main planting are Lepidozamia peroffskyana (an Aussie cycad with no spikes nor spines- frogs and humans love it!) The pond is actually called 3 Lizard Crossing- cause as soon as we put it in- skinks start using it to it bake on & cross from one side of the pond to the other- but at night its a frog fun park- we did not bring any in- the old adage- build it and they will come- within a year there is about 50- so during summer a symphony of frogs to sing sweet lullaby acapella's to send the owmers to sleep...they love it & the fact the garden is actually very low maintenence cause its all very slow growing and tuff low water stuff- nuff said- taking bookings for the summer series now.
sorry- dont wanna ark up the birdies- and neglect the important pest control role the honeyeaters do very well and entertainingly- they pick off scale, insects, mossies etc off for "protein protein" as the Indo's say-(ie anything not rice veges/fruit, roti or arak- dosent matter how many legs its got or hasnt got) anyways here are Phylidonyris novaehollandiae or new hollands/ bandi/ jingee- fine dining on a flowering potted (305mm) Banksia dwarf prionotes or bwongka- (only grows to 1.5 to 1.8m nad its a)- we have many different species- only $65- now thats a bargain in anyones language- especially the chik chik chikchik one- feed a gang today
ok ok you want more nursery animal pics!~due to popular demand- (ok my nephew) - cause we dont spray nutin except Eco-Oil -(made of euke & tea-tree oil) and with this crack pest control team- and yes (pic 2 & 3)- we have two frogs that live inside- cheater & coffin- and they can be quite loud when they get going- most people take some convincing their real frogs- anyways- the benefit to us is massive- for an old place in Freo- never seen a cockroach, slug or snail...mind u shouldnt forget the role of the lizard- with have many skinks, geckos and a bluetongue we call Roberto
just a heads up we have just become a battle and treasure site and err..like other stuff on Pokemon Go! if that doesnt excited u (like who!) we still have some Eucalyptus macrocarpa and rosecea left & also have packed pots of pure yellow & pink/ white everlastings which are about to flower for just $3.50- or Lucindas seeds (everlastings.com.au) 10g (cover 10sqm) for $11- they take sun or shade and are perfect to plant now under other great habitat West Aussies like these...
Our friendly staff and their monkey pets- are all fully qualified local horticulturists (Cert IV or above- Challenger) & while all being quality allrounders re pests & disease, soil, veges and food for black cockatoos etc they also each have a specialization in a particular field- local coastal/ natives, succulents/cacti, bushtucker and fruit trees and banksias/hakeas....so we can help you and the environment! and cause were a small independent- no waiting or wandering looking for help here- and we have parking always right out the front, are kids and dog friendy and stock a wide range of organic products and solutions. so come on down and meet or reacquaint urself with Riley, Schnowy & Hindi!
