Bach Cantata Residency | Chamber Music New Zealand

Applications are invited for a Bach cantata residency with Masaaki Suzuki (Bach Collegium Japan) to be held in Nelson, New Zealand, on 3-5 June 2017. Singers and instrumentalists are invited to apply by 10 March 2017. This is a wonderful opportunity to work in person with one of the greatest living exponents of the performance of Bach's sacred music.

Oregon Bach Festival - The Berwick Academy

Auditions are now open for the Berwick Academy, a FREE auditioned summer school for Historical Performance Practice, in Oregon, July 2017. "We are well into the audition process for the 2017 Berwick Academy and have had many exciting developments over the last few weeks. Would you help us out by sharing this email with your colleagues and students? The December 1 audition deadline is quickly approaching, but there is still time for musicians to submit their materials! We are excited to announce our 2017 Berwick Academy guest directors, each presenting programs featuring works of the Baroque period: The Academy season opens with a concert directed by violinist Monica Huggett on Saturday, July 1, and includes WF Bach, Adagio and Fugue in D minor, Fasch, Concerto a 7 in G minor, Telemann, Suite in A minor for 2 oboes and strings, JS Bach, Suite no 1 in C major, Telemann, Concerto in E minor, Fasch, Concerto in D minor, and Graun,Violin Concerto in D minor. OBF Artistic Director, Matthew Halls, conducts the Berwick Academy on Friday, July 7, featuring Rebel, Les Caractères de la Danse, Lully, Le Bourgeois gentilhomme suite, and a concert version of John Blow’s,Venus & Adonis. The Academy closes the season with a program conducted by EUBO Music Director and harpsichordist, Lars Ulrik Mortensen on Thursday, July 13, including Rameau, Suite from Zoroastre, Georg Muffat, Sonata V from Armonico Tributo, Telemann, Ouverture Burlesque de Quichotte, and Rameau, Danse des Zephyrs. It promises to be an exciting season! We have added some new faculty, including flutist, Stephen Schultz, bassist, Jonathan Cable, and cellist, Sarah McMahon. Peninsula Summer Music Festival

Exciting opportunity at the Peninsula Summer Music Festival Academy, 8-15 January 2017, to prepare and perform Handel's Acis and Galatea with Sophie Daneman, Donald Nicolson, and Julia Fredersdorff! ELIGIBILITY AND PLACES AVAILABLE The 2017 Festival Academy is open to singers and instrumentalists at undergraduate or postgraduate equivalent level. All participants must be aged 18 or older. The following places/roles are available : Orchestra : 2 Oboes (doubling Recorder), 8 violins (some doubling on viola), 2 celli, 1 double bass,1 Bassoon, 1 harpsichord, 1 theorbo Soloists : Galatea (Soprano), Acis (tenor), Damon (tenor or soprano), Polyphemus (Bass), Corridon (Tenor or Soprano) Choir : 3 soprani, 2 altos, 2 high tenors, 2 tenors, 3 basses CONDITIONS, FEES, TRAVEL & LOCATION The academy costs $720 AUD per participant. This includes tuition, accommodation and all meals during the Academy period. Participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements to and from the Academy venue, Toorak College in Mt Eliza. Please note: Successful vocal applicants will be expected to sing their part and all of the ensembles by heart on the first day of rehearsal. AUDITIONS Candidates should complete the attached application form and return it via email as well as uploading their audition sound file (for instrumentalists) or Video for singers. These files should be made available through a url link to a file sharing website such as Dropbox, box.net, YouTube or Vimeo. Please make sure the file names of these recordings mention your name and the works performed. Instrumentalists • should include 2 contrasting movements of an 18th century work by Handel or one of his German, Italian or English contemporaries. The movements may be from different works.
