Who is running the Fundraising BBQ this Saturday 19th August? The Chung Wah Society Lion Dance Troupe and Jade Dragons Dance Group are fundraising to attend the Bendigo Easter Festival in 2018. The Bendigo Easter Festival commenced over 100 years ago, initiated by the local Chinese community in Bendigo to raise funds for the Hospital. It continues today as a great regional community Festival attracting participants and audiences from all across Victoria and Australia. In particular the Bendigo Chinese Association parades Sun Loong, the longest Imperial Dragon in the southern hemisphere and much historical regalia from the Golden Dragon Museum. In support, Lion Dance Troupes and Dance groups from around Australia come together for the Festival in friendly competition to share our Chinese culture and showcase their skills over the Easter long weekend, including a main performance, a day parade and night parade. Next year is a big year for the Bendigo Easter Festival as Sun Loong is expected to retire and a new dragon (Dai Gum Loong) will take his place. This will be a very special and spectacular event to be a part of. Here is the link to their website to learn more about organisation here in Darwin. http://www.chungwahnt.asn.au/ Chung Wah
