Coaching and developing students of all ages and abilities through sailing. The State Sailing Centre of WA (SSC) is a not for profit organisation that has been successfully delivering sailing and powerboat programs to school groups for over 20 years. This includes courses tailored to students with special needs and caters to over 1,200 school aged children per year.

Through sailing, the students learn team building skills, how to overcome physical and mental limitations and a respect for the environment, in a supervised and fun sporting environment.

The State Sailing Centre of WA maintains outstanding results primarily through the employment of coaches with the highest qualifications available. The SSC Head Coach and Director, Alvaro Proietti, who holds the highest qualification of all coaches in Western Australia, is the Senior Instructor for Yachting Australia, training and assessing sailors wanting to become instructors.

The aim of the State Sailing Centre of WA is to cement our position as a pillar of the community through multifaceted support of all school aged children, including those with special needs. The State Sailing Centre of WA is the first organisation to provide this kind of integrated support and will continue to provide program based training and instructor development to similar organisations in the hope of mentoring new programmes which share similar values.
