Sometimes surgery isn't an option for patients for all different reasons and that was the case for our cute dachshund friend "Schnitzel". Schnitzel presented to us with hind limb paresis and pain in his lower spinal region. X-rays showed that he had some mineralisation of his T12-13 discs. So with the use of some complementary therapies such as acupuncture with our lovely Veterinary acupuncturist Emma, we got our little friend walking again and also a very happy family to have their playmate back. If your wondering what acupuncture can do, it can enhance blood circulation, microvascularisation around the spinal column, it can have calming or stimulating effects on the nervous system, and it can help the body in its regulation of it's own anti-inflammatory and pain relieving hormones and chemicals. Acupuncture involves the insertion of non-hollow, fine needles into specific points of the body which relate to meridians, or energy channels of the body. These points have been scientifically proven to be different to surrounding tissue and there is more and more evidence supporting the use if this ancient therapy and its positive effects on the body. If you would like to find out more about our natural therapies, please contact the clinic on 02 6672 4322. Alternatively you can click on the link below to our website www.kingstvets.com.au
