Oh, no! First storm of the school holidays and one side of the front play area has lost and damaged its shade sail!

Thankyou and Farewell Facebook was never my intended method for letting the Barkly Highway State School community know that I would not be returning as Principal at the beginning of 2017. However with the school term now over and no scope to send home a letter to families, social media is my best option. Today I accepted the position of Principal at Buddina State School. I have mixed emotions about leaving Barkly Highway because while I am going back to my family, I am also leaving a very welcoming school community and a very high performing school. I thank my staff for always doing their best to support the students of Barkly Highway State School and I also thank the parents for their support of the school and their trust in us to do the best for their children. Barkly Highway State School is definitely the school that is setting a standard for great schooling in Mount Isa and I have no doubt that it will continue long after I have gone. I wish Christien Payne, the incoming Principal, all the best and know that the school community will extend him and his family the same welcome that I have received over the last two years. I'll miss the students of Barkly Highway, my staff, the parents and community groups who have supported the school. All the best for 2017. Regards Des Gribbin

It's a great turn out for our end of year concert!

End of Year Awards Parade Starting at 8:40 this morning in the Undercover Area.

Uniform Shop extended hours for 2017-- Wednesday 18 January 2:15pm-4:15pm Thursday 19 January 2:15pm-4:15pm and then Tuesday 24 January 2:30pm-3:00pm All flexischool orders can be picked up during these times. Cash and eftpos accepted.
