So we found this rare behind the scenes photo of Linc preparing a bootcamp routine 😂😈 A little 30 min AMRAP full of 100s of stuff 😆 (100 reps each side on the step ups, lunges, dead bugs and climbers. Swapping arms at 50m on the farmers). Did you make it to bootcamp this morning? How did you go? Did you get through it all? Did it burn? 🔥 What was you favourite/least favourite part? // SUCCESS STORY // - This week we share Josie Saunders' fantastic testimonial and transformation since joining the Citywide Fitness fam. — CF: Before finding Citywide, what was your struggle? What were your biggest frustrations? - JS: I have struggled with my weight since the end of high school when I decided that drinking Stones Green Ginger wine and smoking in the bushes was way cooler than running cross country. I had always been the only overweight person in my family and had talked myself into believing that fat was more fun and an easier way to be, because I could eat and drink what I wanted without having to think about self control. I took on a bit of a yobbo persona and relied on my ability to binge drink extraordinary amounts of alcohol and be a clown to get acceptance and recognition from the people around me. I guess my biggest frustration was that I actually hated who I was, to a point, and I wished I was fit and healthy and beautiful. I wanted to take control but it was easier to tell myself I was ok the way I was. - CF: How did your struggles and frustrations affect your life? What did you feel like before you made your transformation? - JS: I pretty much hit rock bottom when my Mum had a 60s themed party for her 60th birthday and I had to go dressed as a whoopie cushion because I couldn’t squeeze into anything more glamorous. It was a funny costume but a sad realisation and not long after I decided it was time to take some action. I tried a few different approaches - fat shakes and an online program through which I had some success, however I got bored and frustrated being told what to eat and when, day in day out. I also had a membership to one of those 24 key pass gyms which I hated using. I found it boring and scary because the only thing I knew how to do was run on the treadmill. The weight area was a no go zone for me, I had no idea how to use any of the equipment and I found all the burly 19 year old footy players very intimidating. So, I began the transition back into my old habits. Two pies and a sausage roll from the bakehouse at 3am > waking up early to stare at a wall and run for 45 minutes any day! - CF: How did our program help you? - JS: Signing up to the 28 day challenge was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. I saw the ad on Facebook and thought I had just sent an enquiry. 5 minutes later I had a coach on the phone telling me when to come in for a meet and greet so I could get started. I remember getting off the phone and thinking “O Ohhh, I’m actually doing this!” I was terrified but my fear turned to excitement as soon as I walked through the door into the success seminar. The program has helped me tremendously with my mindset and I have, and continue to, gain knowledge about exercise, nutrition and mindset that enable me to make positive choices for myself. I keep the wisdom of the coaches in the forefront of my mind every day. Even if I make a choice that is potentially detrimental to my progress I know it’s not the end of the world, I can now be kind to myself and move past it without wallowing in pastry for a year. I find a lot of comfort in knowing there is a challenge I can join every 28 days when I feel like going solo isn’t working very well and I need some extra accountability. I have done 4 challenges in the last 12 months. Who knows where I’d be without them. - CF: How is life different for you now? - JS: Well I can use my whoopie cushion costume as a swag when i go camping now so that’s a bonus! I have lost weight and have a new found love for group exercise, but i think the most important thing for me is that I have a much stronger ‘can do’ attitude and a more positive outlook on life. I look forward to sweating before the sun comes up, I am more aware of my body and what I need to do to keep it happy and I am not content with lazy any more. I still binge drink like a crazy woman on occasion but I do it for fun now, not approval or recognition. Citywide has added a new dimension to my character and has helped me discover a part of me that I like. Life is good! — Josie you are a flippin legend and we love having you on board! Your transformation is amazing and you should be super proud because we certainly are! 👊🏽😉 Please give Josie some LOVE!!! 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽❤️
