Vietnam Children's Project
Description
VCP aims to establish an improved quality of life and a sound educational foundation for disadvantaged and orphaned children in Vietnam. Founded in 1998 and based in Mittagong, New South Wales, Australia, the Vietnam Children’s Project aims to establish an improved quality of life and a sound educational foundation for a group of approximately 160 orphaned children at Dieu Giac orphanage in Ho Chi Minh City, and other disadvantaged children in Vietnam.
With no state assistance or social security to sustain them, the children rely on the charity of others for the necessities of life. The Project aims to satisfy the joint needs of immediate relief from acute poverty and an ongoing educational programme to develop each child’s intellectual and self-reliant potential.
It is our vision to continue supporting the Steiner/Waldorf kindergarten within the orphanage, which opened in September 2002. Thanh Lan Kindergarten that opened in 2003 in Cu Chi, and Tho Trang Childcare Centre in September 2005 originally in Binh Chanh and now in Ho Chi Minh City, are also receiving assistance from the VCP. In addition, it is our commitment to support any other endeavours promoting Steiner/Waldorf education throughout Vietnam.
