Tomorrow's "Hogmanay" (New Year's Eve) parkrun will be our last of the year at Maribyrnong, and will kick off what could be a huge weekend of parkrunning for those keen enough (you can do up to 3 parkruns this weekend - 1 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday). Lisa Gunn - seen here smiling at the thought of another parkrun - will be making her run directing debut, and has a full team of volunteers ready to make sure you get an official result and you get to see photos of yourself in action. As usual, it's a 7:50am start for the pre-run briefing - please don't forget your barcode! #dfyb

We're almost at the weekend, and we're still short a couple of volunteers for our 2 Maribyrnong parkrun events: For Saturday's parkrun, we still need a timekeeper. For Sunday's (New Year's Day) parkrun, we still need a photographer. If you're willing and able to help out with one or both of these roles, please comment on this post, send Maribyrnong parkrun a Facebook message or email us at maribyrnonghelpers@parkrun.com - your help will be truly appreciated. UPDATE: We've found a timekeeper for tomorrow (thanks Cheryl!) and a photographer for Sunday (thanks Lisa!)

#defibs4parkrun -We want Maribyrnong parkrun to continue to be a great community event where people can not only have fun and challenge themselves, but feel safe doing so. We have basic first aid available, but as things currently stand, we do not have ready access to a defibrillator. On Saturday the 30th of July this year, a parkrunner suffered a cardiac arrest at the finish line of New Farm parkrun. If not for the quick actions of fellow parkrunners performing CPR and use of a defibrillator brought by ambulance the gentleman may not have survived. We are lucky that we have not had a scenario like this occur at Maribyrnong parkrun as yet, but as the event continues to grow we want to be prepared. As such, we've made it our goal for 2017 to change that. Please help us raise $2,000 to purchase a defib for Maribyrnong parkrun. Click the link below for more information or to make a donation. What you give today will help ensure the safety of all parkrunners in the future and any money raised above $2,000 will go towards helping other Australian parkrun events afford a defib as well. Thank you in advance for your support. Here is the link - https://asf.org.au/communities/parkrun/a-defib-4-maribyrnong-parkrun/
