‘Friends Make Life Fun'. Teenspirit helps teens and young adults with intellectual or developmental disability socialise in a safe and caring environment. Teenspirit Inc. is a parent run not for profit organisation whose primary goal is to facilitate a safe and caring environment where teenagers and young adults with intellectual or developmental disability can have social interaction with their peers and the wider community.
Being able to meet and go places with your friends is an important part of any teenager’s development, for disable teenager’s access to this type of activity is very limited. Also reaching adulthood is a perilous time and especially for disable young people the opportunity for socialising and making new friends is not always readily accessible. Teenspirit promotes positive connections and fulfilling experiences through our services and within the community.
We aim to encourage our clients to reach their full potential and assist them in developing important life and social skills. Our key strength is to employ support staff who are approximately 22years of age, which is old enough to be good mentors and guardians, but also young enough to actively participate and enjoy the same activities as our clients.
