ABOUT ANIA - HEAD TEACHER
My yoga journey began around 1998 as a way of dealing with the stress of University studies and work as an accountant. For many years I took classes in the Iyengar method where I developed a strong foundation in alignment of the body in the physical poses. I then discovered Jivamukti yoga, a vinyasa style of yoga with a focus on the deeper spiritual aspects of yoga. This is when yoga really started to make sense to me and I decided to take my practice to the next level by undertaking my 200hr teacher training at Botannix Yoga Studio under the guidance of Jeff Miller. At that time I was a stay at home mum and I was at a crossroads as to whether to return to my corporate career or start a new chapter in my life doing something that I was passionate about. So I took the plunge and became a yoga instructor. Since my initial training I have undertaken further studies with a particular interest in yoga therapy for back conditions & injuries, studying with Simon Borg-Olivier (Yoga Anatomy & Physiology Course) and with the International Yoga Teacher's Association (Diploma in Back Care). For me yoga has helped to free my body and mind from the stresses of modern day life. As a mum with 2 young children, it has helped me to slow down the busy-ness of my life and to recognise what’s really important, to rediscover my sense of self, to find acceptance in times of hardship and develop an amazing sense of inner peace. As a local of the Little Bay area I look forward to bringing the many benefits of this amazing ancient practice to the local community.

As we rush towards Christmas and the end of the year, take some time out to CHILL OUT, SLOW things down and JUST BE with your body and breath. Let go of all the doing for just an hour or so to recharge, replenish & renew with YIN tonight. Last yin class of the year tonight, 7pm at Little Bay. Hope to see you there! Ania

Whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed, busy or stressed I'm always drawn to take some time out in nature & in particular being near the water. As soon as I step out of the car, see & smell the ocean there is an almost immediate release. If you've been spending a lot of time indoors at home, work or in shopping centres (yep!), just get outdoors into the sunshine (hello vitamin D) & fresh air (hello oxygen) & reconnect with Mother Nature. If your lucky enough to live near the water, take a swim (hello sea salt detox). If not just step outside, find some grass/sand/soil, take your shoes off & connect to the healing energy of the earth. I promise you'll feel so much better!

It's hot, hot, hot in Sydney! Cool down with this super easy homemade 'slushy' without all the weird stuff. Just 2 ingredients- frozen strawberries & fresh watermelon. Simply throw these in your blender for about a minute & enjoy! PS with the great supply of strawberries at moment I buy a few punnets when on special & freeze them. #mindfuleating #kidsloveit
Is Yoga Really That Good For Us? Ania Mylka Let’s Us Know.
Yoga is so much more than flexibility or performing feats of gymnastics. You don't need a certain body type to practice 'real' yoga or wear trendy leggings. Here's an article I wrote explaining what yoga really is.

As we head towards the end of the year and life becomes even more busy, why not try a yin yoga class to find some balance? All postures are done on the floor and typically held for 2-5min. The slow pace and longer holds allow you to release deeply held tension in the body whilst practicing mindfulness and breathing techniques to help you focus and calm the mind. Every Wednesday 7pm with me at Little Bay. Hope to see you there, Ania

When faced with times of difficulty and challenge, whatever they are, it really is up to us to decide how we handle these situations. We must rise above our fear, anger, anxiety, hate, etc which only adds to the darkness already out there. Let's be and act in a way that reflects what we want in our lives and in the world - peace, calm, love, compassion. Namaste ania.
