The Star Bar Cafe and Hotel is a vibrant restaurant/bar, offering relaxed dining 7 days a week. HISTORY ‘PAST & PRESENT

A long history runs through the Star Bar building, originally constructed from convict brick in the 1800s, the Heritage listed facade has welcomed many a weary traveler. The Star bar was relaunched in 1991 after extensive renovations. Sir Joh Bjelke Peterson opened the night by cooking the very first pizza in the imported Italian wood fire pizza oven.

Through a number of owners the ‘Star Bar’ has been a main stay in Launceston, running for over 21 years; with current owner Mr Michael Acquarola purchasing the Star Bar in February 2007.

Our Business Ethos is that of Excellence in customer service. We provide this through the provision of top quality produce prepared to a high standard by our experienced Head Chef James Daw and his staff. As well as up to date staff training and ensuring that all staff maintain current RSA’s.

OUR RESTAURANT

We offer a wonderful modern Australian cuisine at the Star Bar Cafe. Pop in for a freshly ground Genovese coffee from 10am, or head in for an early lunch from 11:30am. Our Menu’s are changed seasonally to utilise the best of what Tasmania has to offer in fresh produce. Gluten Free pizzas and meals are also available.

Why not try one of our renowned Gourmet Wood fired pizzas, available for dine in or take away. Our restaurant hours are 11.30am to 9.00pm 7 days per week.

OUR FUNCTION ROOM ‘Acqua Bar’

Experience a function in the Acqua bar. The outdoor deck area adjacent to bar with bi-fold windows, opening up to bring the outdoors in. We cater for most functions from 21st birthdays through to wedding anniversary’s and  corporate lunches or sit down dinners.
A selection of tap beers and cider, wines and cocktails are available. Select from a variety of canapes, platters and wood-fired pizzas. The bar is open to the public if there is no prior function booking. With DJ’s playing on those evenings, the scene is set for a great night under the stars on the deck.

Available for hire 7 days a week – minimum 40 people. Open Friday and Saturday nights to public unless closed for private function

Enjoy a stay in one of our modern non-smoking en suite rooms. A variety of rooms ranging from single, twin, double, queen and family are available. All rooms are fully serviced and an in room breakfast is also available (charges apply). Guests receive a 10 percent voucher to use at the restaurant downstairs during their stay.
