TWO DAY OLD STYLE FITASC SPORTING CHAMPIONSHIPS SATURDAY 20TH TILL SUNDAY 21ST MAY VENUE: AUSTRALIAN SPORTING CLAYS SYDNEY 150 TARGETS OVER TWO DAYS NOMS $130 ALL UP INCLUDES LUNCHES PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH YOUR SHOTTY MATES We are only 6 days away for the only 'OLD STYLE FITASC TWO DAY SPORTING CHAMPIONSHIPS" in New South Wales. F.I.T.A.S.C. ( Federation Internationale de Tir aux Armes Sportives de Chasse) The system of shooting FITASC Sporting has evolved over a number of years. Prior to the 1988 FITASC Sporting World Championships that were held in Australia, what is now known as “Old Style FITASC Sporting” was used for all FITASC Sporting events. The Old Style FITASC is still considered by shooters, as the optimum enjoyment for Sporting Clay Shooters. Because we are shooting 'Old Style' makes this is a limited competitor event, we will only have 9 squads that shoot over three layouts, each layout will have 5-8 throwers and 5 stands (see the photo of the hula hoop, that's a stand), these stands are placed in various postion in the range, not together. Three squads go out, shoot their layout and when completed the next 3 squads go forth and so on till you have shot all three layouts (25 targets per layout, 75 targets per day). As at today there is a couple of squads to fill up. We know everyone would like to just rock up on the day and get in a squad, but this will not happen, we need to have everyone PRE NOMINATE so we can arrange catering etc. So please, if you have not emailed or phoned Paul (see attached NOMINATION FORM) do so now to get a slot. Call your usual squad mates and put in a squad together. Do so before it is too late. I have only shot this once last November and I can honestly say that it was exceptional and I do not know why we do not do this every time, I loved it! So, for those that still want to come up on the day, there may be a last second dropout, a spot may come available, who knows, so if you do not want to take a risk, nominate now, if not, good luck on the day.
Hi Everyone The sun has set on our first additional PRACTICE DAY and it was a cracker!! we had over 40 shooters join us by lunchtime (I had to leave) and to a man they were all smiling all day! Perfect for practice. The most common phrase I heard all day was "can you give me that target again please". Our range setters did a wonderful job setting a shootable challenging range, 8 stands, 28 throwers. This was not an easy range, not a super hard range but absolutely perfect for a practice day. Everything was hittable (except the incommer C bird Stand 2 for me). A few months ago, (pre Claymate system), if asked, I would have said that practice days are just that, a day to practice, we squaded up, we shot what we were told and went home. My main priority was competition and improving my grading in this discipline. but...... my opinion has now changed, since we have made squading optional and just go shoot whatever we want, this has become a favorite day, just like a dog that is let off the leash in a park we can now go and shoot, hone our skills and have more fun than may be legal. Today, my 'squad' shot every target, mixed up impossible to easy SIM targets, laughed when Claymate cards are not removed for the next shooter and generally had a great time. So, in retrospect, why do we shoot field and game..... for the trophies, the grading, the meager prizes or for the fun and company? I have got to say, it is the latter. We all have a drawer full of cards and ribbons and we have all shot the shells we have won but more importantly we have made friendships for life. Thank you to all that arrived early this morning to learn how to set up (and pack up). Without these volunteers we would not have additional days, if you would like give an hour of your time to help set up, please arrive at the range at 7.15am on the day. Our next PRACTICE DAYS are the normal first Saturday of June, 3rd. Then the following Saturday, 10th of June. Please bring your friends. You may share this with your shotty mates.

Australian Sporting Clays Sydney is Sydney's s PREMIER VENUE for Sporting Clays. Over our long history we have endeavoured to encourage and promote our unique sport to clay target shooters. So much so, that Sporting Clays is the fastest growing discipline in the clay target family. With this increasing demand your club has decided to extend their opening days to have TWO PRACTICE DAYS a month and ONE COMPETITION DAY. So, starting next month, in May 2017, we will have PRACTICE DAYS on the FIRST and SECOND Saturdays of the month, followed by a COMPETITION DAY on the THIRD Sunday of the month. As you can imagine, this is a big commitment for the members and committee, especially the range setters, who work for many hours setting up the course the day before (and putting it all away after). So please use these days to work out the kinks in your shooting or just have a great fun time shooting and to also bring friends to try out this amazing sport. We will have STAND 7 set up for the normal clays and a couple of easy ones for your mates/family to try. A sport shared is a sport enjoyed. All it takes is for them to sign a P650 form and be accompanied by a licenced shooter to try. The minimum age is 12yo with parental supervision. SO, THIS MONTH WE HAVE THE FOLLOWING HAPPENING Saturday 6th May PRACTICE DAY and ST GEORGE HUNTERS Saturday 13th May PRACTICE DAY Saturday - SUNDAY 20th -21st FITASC Old Style 2 day comp Your club is moving forward, taking on more work for you to enjoy this sport. Please think about what you can do to help, be it helping with setup or helping put away at the end of the day. The more support the club gets will be encouraging to open more days, hold more comps, build more stands. We need your support and input. Please share this with all your shotty mates
