facebook.comThis is a video you truly must watch, a real parkrun story you need to know. 💜 Brett Orpwood is a parkrunner from Mullum Mullum parkrun. His life was saved on Saturday 23 December 2017 at parkrun after he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Well done to the wonderful parkrunners at Mullum Mullum for stepping in immediately to support Brett and his family, and save his life. 🙏🏼 Well done to parkrun Australia for being dedicated to ensuring every parkrun event in Australia has access to a defibrillator. 🧡 Hamilton parkrun has a defibrillator thanks to a grant from Dan Tehan MP and the Dept of Infrastructure and Regional Development. 💛 Brett has set up a crowdfunding page to help raise money to purchase a defibrillator for all parkrun events that are still yet to have access to one. 💗 Please consider donating and making parkrun the safest environment to enjoy your free 5km each week. 💚 https://www.gofundme.com/defibrillators-for-parkrun
There once was a parkrun volunteer. He wanted to wear fluoro gear. He put his name down. He then lost his frown. And was smiling from ear to ear. :) Let us know if you'd like to help out!
Wow!! Was not the temperature we were expecting. With 53 people turning up this morning made for a pleasant run/walk. Cheers to Garry Aydon, Narelle Frichot, Jodie Thompson, Bella Smith, Bruce Stephens and Jess Hayes for volunteering this morning. We even had a visitor all the way from Ireland.
☀️☀️ Important info ☀️☀️ The temperature at 8am tomorrow is likely to be 20 degrees. parkrun will go ahead as usual, but please be prepared for the conditions. Please arrive at 7.50am for the essential safety briefing and we will start the run/walk at 8am sharp. We will have a volunteer water sniper out on course to hose you down and keep you cool 😉 (Thank you Simon Van Kalken 🙏🏼😊) Here are some tips for walking/running during the warm morning: - Drink water before and during your walk/run (there is a water fountain at the start/finish line for refills-see photo; and there is a tap at the rowing sheds near the bbq shelter). - Wear light clothing, a hat, suncreen, and sunglasses. - Seek shade as soon as you can following your walk/run. There is shelter at the start line ☺️ - parkrun is a run not a race, so reduce your pace in the heat. We don’t expect any PBs in the heat 🤔 - if you see someone struggling in the heat, please stop and offer help and locate/call a volunteer for assistance 🙏🏼 - Have fun!
