Wallaroo Rural Fire Brigade is a NSW RFS volunteer brigade located between Canberra and Murrumbateman. Wallaroo Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade is a New South Wales Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) unit.  All members of the brigade are volunteers and train regularly to fight bush fires, grass fires, building and vehicle fires, as well as attending motor vehicle accidents.

We respond to a varying number of incidents per year in the brigade area, between Canberra and Murrumbateman, and also send crews and units to incidents within the zone, state or even interstate.

If you are interested in becoming a firefighter with the brigade we encourage you to visit one of our training sessions, commencing 6:30pm on 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month at the station, 468 Wallaroo road.

Extremely disappointing and concerning, with the reputation of our Barton Highway it's hard to believe people still don't drive to conditions and risk not only their lives but the lives of other road users this time of year. Police are out in force and will catch you!

We said something big was coming. But who knew leaving our hard working Wallaroo 7B in the rain would make it grow??? At our Brigade Christmas Party this evening, we welcomed our latest truck Wallaroo 1, yes that's correct, to our fleet, and bid a fond absentee farewell to Wallaroo 7B that will join another Yass Valley brigade.

Our brigade joined our neighbouring brigades this afternoon at a fire at Jeir, that reportedly came quite close to a home. Volunteers from Jeir, Manton, Yass River, Springfield RFS, Wallaroo and Murrumbateman Rural Fire Brigade all assisted in containing the fire. A reminder that on hot windy days to avoid any work which may create sparks, such as mowing, slashing, welding, grinding etc that could create subsequent fires. Thanks again to all that attended.

This Wednesday at our brigade training we snapped this little picture to highlight the current fuel loading around our area, it just highlights the growth we have had over the last few months with a wet spring and now heading into a warm summer. This weekend the forecast couldn't be better weather. It might be the fire season already but it's not too late to prepare your home and property, so take advantage of the favorable weather and ACT NOW. Prepare Act Survive

Last night was our first brigade training for summer 2016/2017, and boy was it a great turnout from our dedicated and devoted members. Members dusted off the trucks and their uniforms and got right back into the swing of things with taking to a local residents dam and paddock to familiarise themselves with the trucks pumps, gear and a little bit of navigation too.
