Here at Dixon Dental we are starting the year with a nice new dental chair and all the goodies that go with it. It is super comfortable and has a big screen that will allow you, as a patient, to get a better view of intraoral photos and x-rays. It also has features that make patient care better and easier for the dentist so we are enjoying using it.

Recipe of the Month, courtesy of Liz Dixon Choc-macadamia brownies 80g roasted macadamias (or any nuts that you prefer) 1/4 cup (35g) plain or spelt flour 1/4 teaspoon baking powder pinch of salt 225g dark chocolate, chopped roughly 2/3 cup castor sugar 180g butter 2 large eggs 3 teaspoons vanilla extract 120g milk chocolate, cut into small cubes Heat your oven to 160C. Grease a 22cm square cake tin. Line it with a sheet of foil, then line with baking paper. Put the macadamias in a food processor and process only till coarsely chopped. Put them in a bowl and toss with a couple of teaspoons of the flour. Mix the rest of the flour, baking powder and salt in a separate bowl until they are combined. Put the dark chocolate and sugar in a food processor and process them until the chocolate is very finely chopped. Add the butter, eggs and vanilla to the chocolate mixture and process them together for 1 minute, stopping to scrape down the sides once or twice with a spatula. Add the flour mixture and pulse it in only until everything just combines into a thick batter. Use a spatula to stir in the macadamias and milk chocolate cubes. Smooth the batter into the prepared tin. Bake the brownie for about 40 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the middle comes out with moist, but not wet, crumbs on it. Cool in the tin on a wire rack. Once it’s cool, put it in the fridge in its tin. When cold turn the brownie out onto a cutting board and peel away the foil and baking paper. Invert it right way up and slice with a hot dry knife. If you like you can dust the brownies with icing sugar before serving. They are best served at room temperature. Enjoy
