I have a few clients with this problem.... Sciatica pain can become debilitating. When this flares up, symptoms can be crippling and limit a full and active lifestyle. The piriformis muscle is located deep within the gluteual muscles and when this region becomes contracted, it clamps down and can entrap the nerve. Trigger Points develop in the piriformis at the hip joint and the sacrum. Applying pressure using a tennis ball or baseball will release the contracted state it is in causing it to clamp down on the Sciatica nerve. This is an illustration of at-home therapy you can do to alleviate painful symptoms.
