SO many exciting things going on in the New Year! Here is January's time table with the addition of Yin Yoga & Strong Flow :) We will also be holding sessions at Element Jiu Jitsu-Barossa gym on Friday nights. Commencing from the 10th of January Tuesday Morning! Read on for descriptions of these new additions to our yoga practice. A Yin Yoga consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower parts of the body such as the hips, pelvis, inner thighs and lower spine. Most poses are held for 3-5 minutes. This yin yoga approach is nessacary to effetely stretch and activate the deeper layers of the physical body: connective tissue (fascia, cartilage, ligaments, tendons), bones and joints. Yin is suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles (Vinyassa + Hatha) yoga that emphasise internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Key benefits of a regular Yin Yoga practice -Stillness: calms and balances the mind and body -Stress and anxiety reduction -Increased circulation -Improved flexibility & mobility (in joints etc) -Fascial release -Calm the para sympathetic nervous system -In motion Meditation practice -Balance to the internal organs and improved flow of chi or prana through meridian stimulation Strong Flow Yoga Our power flow style is much like a Vinyassa class however we will be amping up the core work and ensure you break a sweat, but still staying with the mind, body & breath.
