What can I do with an empty milk bottle? Is the question I have been toying with lately as I use so much milk. This little hand bag has been extremely popular with the children. It was very easy and quick to make. I just cut the bottle down after giving it a good wash and removing labels. Then used a hole punch to make the holes at the top and crocheted into them.

One of the childrens toy shopping baskets had lost its handles. The children and I made new handles. We used wool and plaited it. We then thought we would make improvements to the basket and did some weaving on it. It's now the favourite basket

I have really been investigating and thinking deeply about giving items a purpose that would otherwise be put into the rubbish or recycle bin. My criteria for making something is that it is funtional and is pleasing to the eye. This little basket has been crocheted from one use plastic shopping bags. I cut the bags into strip's and looped them together making "plarn". I found how to make it on YouTube. Then the plarn can be used in the same way as yarn. The basket has definitely been "Toodler Approved", and I will be making more.

Thanks Mr Maker for the inspiration. The children used hole punches to make lots of holes into the stips of black and white paper. Once they had glued them onto a red background they ended up with a striking piece of art.
