MAREMMA dog (guard dog) Needed urgently . Not for the goats , sheep or chooks but for the MARKET GARDEN ! Would you believe it ! For the last 2-3 weeks I have been losing big numbers of melons and sweet corn to a rampaging pack of FOXES doing night raids into the market garden. I've fenced out the roos and rabbits but had no idea that foxes would be so inclined and so destructive! Has anybody else experienced this or know of it happening ? The answer to me is a Maremma guard dog - I know they are brilliant in protecting all kinds of livestock. Would they keep the foxes from invading ? I reckon just there presence would keep them out . If anyone has any experience with these dogs - what do you think ? I'll throw a few chooks in there if they needed another animal to protect. I'm open to all kinds of ideas but I would like a dog for a number of reasons

In spite of the on- again : off- again nature of our "summer" , the next batch of melons and pumpkins have come through - but with a little confusion . ( I would like to cut the melons in half just to confirm or otherwise their ripeness.)This time it will be the "Sugar Babies" opportunity to quench your thirst and add some natural sugar to your diet ! The pumpkins are the Waltham Butternuts and for the first time the "Baby Blue" variety. I will also have some cucumber , zucchini , beetroot and rockmelon So I'll see you at the Growers market to help celebrate our first anniversary at Nulsen.

You've all heard the saying : "Be careful what you wish for ". Put the bore down a couple of days ago thinking the dams are getting low and need to keep the water up to the summer crop of melons & pumpkins. I was happy to take 10 litres/min from underground - now I've got a flood. Fresh water is pouring down the "winter creek" cascading through "hammock rocks" picnic area. To those who've been there - remember I said water flows through like a waterfall - and you didn't believe me ! Well here it is - Check this out

Excitement yesterday afternoon - drilled into another good water source. Where? Slap bang in the middle of the market garden! Unbelievable . Anyone else follow The Law of Attraction Ask , Believe , Receive ?? Get on it - think it works!

Thanks again to all those people that came down today for some melons and peaches. Might have to batten down the hatches for a day or two by the look of it. Will see you at the markets this weekend if I'm not aboard Noahs Ark!
