facebook.comHmm thought and question for the day.... We (as in Paul and I) always see Wing Chun practitioners posting videos of themselves chi sau-ing or laap sau-ing against relatively unskilled opponents or often students who freeze so their teacher can showcase what they can do to a willing opponent. We almost never see footage of anyone doing chi sau etc against someone as good as them and both of them actually having a go. My question is why not ?
Prospective students I thought I would post a reply to a recent enquiry which may be of help to you in deciding if Ving Tsun as we teach it is for you. "Wing Chun as I teach it focuses on equipping you with a toolset that is the most effective way to deal with a (physical) fight. You will not get much general flexibility out of training as there are no high kicks or moves etc that people generally associate with flexibility. " You will learn a lot about mobility and efficient use of structure while staying grounded. "Over time it will give you the confidence in your ability to deal with physical confrontation and this in turn leads to a greater degree of mental comfort in heated situations. I would also say unless you are able to train at least twice a week you will be unlikely to be able to make meaningful progress towards these goals. I hope this helps you. - nick. "
Introduced squats, lunges and pole stepping. Going to have sore students tomorrow. Time they learned to step properly using their leg muscles !
