A Community Multi Purpose venue consisting of Food, Beverage and Live Entertainment   4 St Georges Road, Caulfield RSL  Elsternwick, is the modern name for the Caulfield Sub-branch of the Returned Soldiers & Sailors Imperial League of Australia. The League was formed by men who returned to Australia from the The War(WW1) to find a Government that cared less about their welfare than they ought to. The Caulfield club consisted of local men as well as many who were patients at the nearby Military Hospital, suffering from long term wounds and debilitating wounds. For this reason it had a membership of men from all parts of Australia.

2016 has been a wonderful year for the Caulfield RSL and we couldn't have done it without the great support and patronage of our members and guests. We have seen a great year of food, fun, prizes, functions and music and raised some valuable money for our Welfare Fund that helps us to aid veterans and widows. We are very grateful to all of you who helped out with our annual Anzac Day and Poppy Appeals. On behalf of the entire Committee, I would like to thank the Staff, Management and Members for their support across 2016. Please have a very happy Christmas and New Year and we look forward to seeing you all in 2017. Colin Bradley President Please note the RSL will be closed on Christmas Day and reopen on Boxing Day at noon.

November 22nd is the 60th anniversary of the 1956 Olympics, Caulfield RSL remains very proud of the role of its members not only in the running of the 1956 games but in its inception in the mind of prominent club member Frank Beaurepaire. Frank swam in the 1910 Olympics. he dreamed that his hometown Melbourne could in fact host the games. Following World War I in which he served as a YMCA amenities officer under Sir John Monash, Frank tried to convince the Australian government we could host a bid. Unable to get government support in the 1920s for his dream he put together his own bid committee to lobby the International committee. This committee included members of Caulfield RSL. When the games were won, and the state and federal governments still refused to contribute sufficient funds, he convinced his ex-service comrades to lobby and bully until the money and land was allocated to build the facilities required. Beaurepaire was supposed to be Lord Mayor of Melbourne during the games, however he had a heart attack and died in May 1956. This place as Lord Mayor was taken by another club member Sir Francis Selleck. The chief executive officer of the games was Major General Sir William Bridgeford, also a Caulfield RSL member. Many of the men and women who volunteered and run the games were also either Caulfield members or from the ex-service community. We are very proud of our contribution to this part of Australia’s history. http://corporate.olympics.com.au/games/melbourne-1956
