Welcome to the Mount Lofty Botanic Garden Support Group's facebook page. The Support Group was set up following a public meeting held in Stirling in March 2011 which attracted over 350 people who were concerned about the future of this magnificent garden.

Our Goal is

to safeguard the Mt Lofty Botanic Garden's (MLBG) roles of conservation, scientific research, community education and recreation, by ensuring all plant collections within the MLBG are maintained and enhanced for the benefit of our community as well as future generations.

Our Objectives are

1. To gather ideas about what could be done to maintain and further enhance the MLBG

2. To advocate for the worldwide definition of botanic gardens as cultural institutions concerned with scientific research, conservation, education and recreation by
lobbying for recurrent government funding for adequate horticultural staffing of MLBG
seeking to gain Government funding to further utalise the value of the rare and endangered plant collections at MLBG for community education and scientific research
maintaining an interest in what is happening in the MLBG to ensure the continuing enhancement of the garden

3. To promote the tourism potential of MLBG and its unique environmental heritage

4. To work in conjunction with Government, the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide administration and the Friends of the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide to achieve these objectives.

WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO HELP US MAINTAIN AND ENHANCE THIS BEAUTIFUL WORLD RENOWN GARDEN. IF YOU ARE SEEKING MORE INFORMATION ON WHAT WE ARE DOING OR HOW YOU CAN BECOME INVOLVED AS A MEMBER OF OUR SUPPORT GROUP WE WOULD BE PLEASED TO HEAR FROM YOU

Hon. David Wotton AM
Chairman, Mt Lofty Botanic Garden Support Group (MLBGSG)
