Hi again to all our supporters! We would love to see you at the ordinary council meeting this Thursday evening at 4:30 pm at the council chambers opposite the pool. It's your chance to show how disappointed you are with this decision and support our push for a full independent review of the process which led the councillors and Mayor to have no say in this crucial decision for our community facility. We'll be allowed to make a 5 minute presentation to the councillors and Mayor and your support will be very much appreciated. Please share this post and stand up for the community of Coffs Harbour!

An open letter to the GM and acting GM of the council. Dear Steve McGrath, General Manager CHCC, and Mick Raby, Acting General Manager CHCC. We agree with your written assessment of Swimplex Facilities as a successful manager of the Coffs Pool and agree that the service levels that we have provided are very high. Our bustling Facebook page with 2700 followers is but an example of this. The reaction from our patrons, staff and the broader community on social media points to how well a centre can be run and how well it can fulfil council’s charter of serving the community. The $4m you have posted on your Facebook page is extremely misleading and defamatory. Obviously we are happy to have our bid scrutinised but not if you are extrapolating beyond our actual offer and ignoring the differences in maintenance and capital upgrades. We believe that it is defamatory for you to have published this figure to discredit Swimplex Facilities and its directors in a bid to halt the momentum of the community’s outrage. Do you and your team really think that the councillors or the Mayor would have approved this decision on purely financial terms? Do you think they want to deal with an angry constituency over staffing and drop in service levels at the pools for the next decade? The community have made it abundantly clear that they would happily accept a slightly more expensive deal to keep the service levels high and the business local. The tender was supposed to be weighted only 30% to financial aspects so there is plenty of scope for you to make a decision that delivers a better overall outcome for the community. We also note that the delegated authority system is intended to streamline small decisions concerning the ‘day to day running’ of the council. There is no reasonable way to consider the running of these major community facilities as small decisions and we believe that the councillors and mayor should have been involved through this process. All we are asking is that the elected officials be allowed to review this process and the decision you have made and independently judge whether this decision is overall the best outcome for the people of Coffs Harbour. An independent review of the tender process is vital to restoring faith in the council’s processes. We believe that there is a very good case for reinstating Scott and Tracy at Woolgoolga and ourselves at Coffs Harbour. Please see attached our concept plan for a new stand alone Learn to Swim pool and Mums and Bubs play hub which will reduce demands on the indoor pool and allow even more people to make use of the facilities. We are committed to ongoing improvements to the pool at our own expense and this has to be considered as part of the bigger picture. Yours sincerely, Daniel Leaver Swimplex Facilities 33 Lawson Crescent Coffs Harbour

To all our friends and patrons of the Coffs Harbour War Memorial Pool, You may have seen some posts about the management of the pool being awarded to an out of town company; unfortunately this is true. We are gutted by this decision and are doing everything we can to keep the management of your facilities in local hands. Whatever happens from here we have loved bringing the pool up to scratch and feel that our pool community has gone from strength to strength while we have been involved. Being that we are from the commercial pool industry and based in Coffs we feel that we offered council a great choice to keep the centre running smoothly and with a view to long term upgrades and additions but that all seems to have been overlooked. If you would like to support our request to the council for a review of the tender process you could post on their Facebook wall, or contact your councillor directly. To our wonderful team- we are sorry that this stressful situation has been thrust upon you. You are what makes the pool such an awesome place and we will do everything we can to keep it that way. We thank you all for your ongoing support and hopefully things turn out best for our community. The team at Swimplex Facilities, Coffs Harbour Kerri Ann, Mark, Daniel.

With the swimming season for this year coming to an end we would like to congratulate the squad from the Coffs Harbour Olympic Pool for all their outstanding results overall this season. To all our swimmers who represented their school or swimming clubs at district, zone, regional, state and national levels, well done you have made your coaches proud. Just to mention a few of the awesome results was the girls 13yrs relay team from Coffs Harbour High at the NSW State High School carnival. Our squad members Benni Maloney and Georgie Kuchel were in the team and both swam PB’s, also taking home a gold medal, fantastic results girls. The promising young swimmer Millie Edwards-Bradshaw competed in the NSW State Primary Schools and claimed a gold medal in the 10yrs 200m Medley with another P.B. What a swimming season Millie, all those early mornings have reaped the rewards! Riley Andrews the butterfly queen of the pool won a gold medal at this year’s Speedo sprints series finals with a great P.B. Furthermore she had another P.B in the finals of the NSW State Primary Schools. Riley’s hard work during training hours has paid off as she has had a massive time reduction in all strokes this year. Thank you to all!
